Resistance movements of Refugee Women in Berlin and Germany
Workshop: Women in Exile, http://women-in-exile.net/
In this workshop the activists Elisabeth Ngari and Damarice Okore of “Women in Exile” will – based on their own experiences – analyse the situation of refugee women in the last 20 years in Berlin and Brandenburg as well as the rest of Germany They encourage reflexive discussions about the effects, possibilities and limits of their political campaigns and actions. They will present their experiences and talk about the challenges within the refugee movement from a gender perspective, raising for example the subject of sexual violence against women taking place while fleeing and staying inside the refugee camps. The current situation of refugee women and immigrant women in Germany will be explained and analysed in a historical context and from a postcolonial perspective.
